RYO OKUMOTO was born in Osaka in 1959. He started his musical career early, playing classical music on piano. In the mid-70's, he moved to Tokyo ,where he was performing in various venues for the next few years. From that period, notable is his collaboration with KITARO.
OKUMOTO is best known in progressive circles as a keyboardist for SPOCK'S BEARD, although he's also a member of GPS, and have half a dozen solo albums in his career - the first one from the 1980, up to the present day. He collaborated with a numerous rock stars (in Japan, UK and United States), such are Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Jeff Porcaro, Eric Burdon, Robbie Robertson and Glenn Hughes, to name only a few.
OKUMOTO is an eclectic artist, often fusing various aspects of jazz, rock and classical music in his art.
